Rebel

Dig the aesthetic of Rihana's new video

I really like the hyper saturated colours and the surrealist feel. The song however - not my favourite. But definately an interesting new direction video wise.

Just some looks that I think are awesome.

Colourful Vicorian Facades

Although it wasn't a Victorian colonial tradition to paint buildings in bright/acidic colours. I think it gives these beautiful colonial buildings a South African identity. Colour looks fantastic in our sunlight.

Vintage carrier & book cover

My mom and I paid a visit to an antique shop, that recently opened, and I found these there.

Tribute to the colour black

I feel that I don't wear enough black anymore. It's my favourite colour. I can wear black from head to toe. Black Military boots, black skinny jeans, black t-shirt, black double breasted coat, huge black scarf and black bowler hat. Ah... want to wear it tomorrow.

90's = ♥

These looks, look like something my dad and teacher would've worn respectively, in the 90's! And I really like them.

Tribal

Tribal print = cool

I would wear this exact look

This makes me want a leather biker jacket so bad. It's on my "list".

Military

I appreciate this trend when it's not too literal. These looks have a military feel without plastering camo all over them.

I really (really, really!) dig the style of the guys from "Hurts"!

This is a look from lookbook, seemingly isnpired by Hurts I gather, with a title taken from a track of theirs (A great track with an equally great video) called - "Wonderful Life"

Pompadour

Up until quite recently, I had just longer than shoulder length hair, it was getting a bit scraggly and I hardly ever brushed it. This is bad practice if you have longer hair. So I decided to have it cut shorter in the popular pompadour style, well, my version of it. A longer version. So I went in to the hairdresser/salon with photographic aids in hand and it all went downhill, fast. I left with a terrible haircut which two weeks later is looking bowl-ish. Needless to say I told the stylist I didn't like it and it wasn't what I wanted. It's a non style. I'd have felt better if I could actually work it. Can't wait for the end of year hols when it will have grown out to a decent length! And I will look after it right from here on out so that I am never tempted to destroy it! Haircut every 2 months etc...

Lesson learned: don't go for a popular style that looks awesome when pulled off by the right person and done by the right stylists in Pop culture magazines etc. When it's probably not going to suit you all that well and is a mission to style everday.

Marina and the Diamonds: I am not a robot.

Love this music video! The video I've posted here is the original version I take it. The Ground Control Remix below is the version I heard on vh1. Both brilliant.

The Owl House: Part 2 - The House

There will be more photo's of the house up soon. Just experiencing technical difficulties at the moment. They will be accompanied by a personal description of the Owl House and some info on the Artist Helen Martins.

Saw something similar to the striped one available at Mr Price here in South Africa. Really different and really cool.

Architecture & Places

I haven't posted anything related to architecture and interesting places around the country/Port Elizabeth yet. Which is rather sad as they're both part of my vision for this blog. So I will endeavour to change this.

I recently visited the Red Location Museum, here in Port Elizabeth, and I found the building and the vision for the surrounding area very interesting and inspiring. I was also moved by many of the exhibits. It's a pitty that most people I know don't really know all that much about it. And I'm going to encourage everyone who hasn't been to make a point in visiting. Unfortunatley I was without my camera as it wasn't a planned excursion. But I'll be visiting again quite soon and I'll have some photo's to post.

I will also be going on a class trip through the Karoo visiting the small towns Cradock, Graaff-Reinet, Nieu Bethesda and Grahamstown. I am so excited! I love old villages and towns. I could get lost in the history. Most of all I'm excited to see The Owl House in Nieu Bethesda. I've wanted to visit it for years.

Regarding other places of note in PE - I have a few places I want to feature but I need to take photo's.

Veldskoene:

I got a pair of these shoes. Best buy of the year. People either hate them or love them. I love them too much. I wore them 7 days in a row and now they're worn in nicely. Obviously with a clean pair of socks each time.

Wanted: Fringe jacket. Cool hey?

Street Fashion Photo's

I really want to.... Scratch that... I WILL be taking my camera to university and getting some snaps of my fashionable friends. And in due course I will post them. But... There are so many other well dressed people in my department that I'd like to feauture on here. I'm just not sure how random people would react if I asked to feature them on here. So it's just going to be friends and aquintances for the moment. Then I'll have to maybe get some Dutch courage to ask the other cool kids around the place.

Isn't this just an awesome jersey?

I have no followers yet. But blogging is going to be fun.

UPDATE: 1 Follower!

Why don't more people look and dress like this where I live?

Pretty. Nice hair.

"Hey fashionista... Shut up and take notes!"

Dressing well really isn't all that difficult. Stick to the basics and you'll never go wrong. That is the great success of the look above. Simple and stylish.
I need to start posting "things" on here... Bear with me. I'm new at this. I have my shiny new Nikon and I hope to start posting my own photo's soon.
